Head Chef Mariano Velázquez comes from a regional area of Buenos Aires. After working in a number of award-winning restaurants in Madrid, Chef Velázquez now brings traditional Argentinian flavours to True South. The beachside restaurant has a casual pub feel. With tartan napkins, indoor plants and gorgeous Robert Gordon ceramics, it’s the small details that make you feel at home here. Covering everything from tapas and raciones to larger dishes, the Argentinian fare is delectable. Empanada de carne e cuchillo is delivered to the table piping hot. Crisp, rich pastry encases slow-cooked beef, large morsels of green olive and eggs – it is delicious and hearty. Cordero braseado comprises malbec-braised lamb that is beautifully cooked until it is tender. It is served with a fresh freekeh, pea and mint salad, which offers a superb flavour contrast to the richness of the meat. PSST!
