The Bistro at Manly Pavilion

L'avis de Gault&Millau

Tuscan-born Head Chef Andrea Corsi, who worked under Raymond Blanc in Britain and spent ten years alongside Giovanni Pilu, has been at Manly Pavilion for over a year now, and his background and experience is evident in the focus on Italian and seafood dishes. The 1933 pavilion has been refurbished and transformed into a modern, light and airy dining space with spectacular views through the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. In the warmer months, the wraparound balcony is a gorgeous and highly sought after outdoor eating area. The menu has a strong Italian flavour and concentrates on great produce prepared simply. You could start with a light fresh salad of roasted beetroot on a bed of rocket with poached pear and roasted pumpkin, sprinkled with crunchy walnuts and pepitas and topped with creamy, salty fetta. Meat eaters can try an entree with delicate slices of pink beef topped with artichokes and parmesan. Light potato gnocchi with a lip-smacking pork ragu is a satisfying dish, particularly on a cold day. PSST! Check the website for specials, such as ‘all-you-can-eat mussel Thursdays’.
