Takumi

L'avis de Gault&Millau

Taka Arai presents a wide selection of traditional Japanese dishes highlighting local ingredients using time-honoured culinary processes. The restaurant is most famous for its wagyu, which the chefs treat with great respect. Takumi is an intimate inner-city dining room with a warm and inviting decor. The restaurant doesn’t jump out at you with flashy advertising; rather, it relies on its reputation as a delightful Japanese dining location. From seafood and beef to interesting Japanese desserts, the extensive menu has something for everyone. A signature dish of the restaurant, scallop sashimi is drizzled with sizzling oil and citrus soy sauce. It is a flavoursome entree that will get the tastebuds going! It is well worth indulging in a beef dish such as jo hire steak, which comprises the best part of a premium eye fillet. The meat is beautifully cooked to allow the quality of the beef to shine through. PSST! If you love Japanese food, you won’t want to miss the All You Can Eat option – $50 from Monday to Thursday, and $55 from Friday to Sunday. Reviewed for the 2017 Guide.
