Old, bold and classic, Syracuse Wine Bar & Restaurant has been a CBD favourite for years. Acclaimed Chef Philippa Sibley presents a seasonally changing menu boasting classic European fare created with quality ingredients. Located in the iconic Bank Place alleyway, the old building with European charm lies on the corner of bustling Little Collins Street. Inside, it’s moody and dark with high ceilings, giant regal pillars, chandeliers and walls showcasing the outstanding collection of wines that look as old as the building. The plump fior di latte burrata – a gorgeous summer dish, both textural and light – comes with plush purple and golden beets and crunchy hazelnuts. A fillet of seared salmon is served with a zucchini and chickpea salad and a smoked eggplant puree. If you’re settling in for the evening, the hearty lamb bastilla is for two. Finish off with a plate of cheese or a Meyer lemon tart and, of course, a wine from their huge selection. PSST!
