Heading up the team at Supermaxi is Chef Rita Macali, traditionally trained, with experience spanning several premium restaurants, including the original Ladro in Fitzroy and Head Chef at Luxe.
This is Fitzroy North: cool, hip and trendy. With so many hard surfaces, the restaurant can be a little noisy, but it’s full of life. A central bar divides the space that is set out with well-spaced, comfortable table settings. With a genuine warm and friendly service team, you will feel right at home.
This is good Italian done well, with passion and flavour. Fresh and seasonal produce takes pride of place on their menu. The gnocchi is generous and delightfully moist and hearty, melting in the mouth, the delicate, soft, small pillows drenched in a moist and hearty ragu and topped with fresh parmesan at the table. The specials should be considered and if the buffalo mozzarella is on offer, it is a highlight. Served with rocket and sundried tomatoes, this dish packs a punch, with fresh ingredients, clean presentation and distinct crisp flavours.
