SUD Food & Wine

L'avis de Gault&Millau

Led by Head Chef Darren Wallace, SUD Food & Wine’s rustic Italian menu has a few classics with a twist, using seasonal produce. This gorgeous little Italian gem has been a CBD favourite for years. Gracious host Vincenzo, known for his quirky moustache and gregarious hospitality, will ensure a wonderful experience at this upmarket eatery, where white tablecloths, tealights and ordered shelves of wine give an elegant feel. Start with the deboned quail (quaglia) – delicate and delightful with a grain salad and sweet dried fruits. Zucchini fritters, lightly fried with a capsicum puree, are a fabulous vegetarian choice. Do try the house-made pasta and risotto, such as parmesan gnocchi with slow-braised lamb shoulder, onion, garlic, thyme and pecorino cheese. Secondi may include a chargrilled marinated spatchcock with spicy toasted hazelnuts and a chilli–citrus dressing. The 350g prime black angus goes sublimely well with a big bold red, such as an Italian Nero d’Avola from their eclectic wine list. PSST! SUD has some interesting and unique wine varieties that are not on their list, but if you ask the host, he will find something special for you. Reviewed for the 2019 Guide
