Co-owner Richard Nichols leads his culinary and service team at Subsolo, which means basement in Portuguese. However, the food focuses on Iberian neighbour Spain, offering paella, tapas, espetada grills and sweet desserts. Subsolo is a subterranean restaurant where businesspeople come to catch up, gossip and enjoy a tapas or two. The lighting accentuates the bare brick walls and dark and mysterious decor. The professional, engaging staff are more than happy to assist in wine matching, as they enjoy a drop themselves! Whether you are a vegetarian, a meat lover, or enjoy the taste of the sea, the Spanish tapas-style dishes on offer at Subsolo will cater to your preference. With the tasting plates, you’ll have the opportunity to try a variety of dishes, regardless of whether you are eating with a large group of friends or dining solo. If you are big on presentation and like the ‘wow factor’, the espetada grills will impress. All the grills are served with a side of mixed salad and pimentón fries. PSST!
