The streets of Tel Aviv are the inspiration for this small chain of sunny cafés owned and directed by baker Arie Haikin, who set up the first one in neighbouring Erskineville in 2007. This third member of the fold, in bohemian Enmore, opens later than the rest but still exudes a casual café vibe with rustic wooden furniture, knick-knacks and a specials board with plenty of options.
The menu offers traditional Middle Eastern dishes full of flavour, featuring spices and ingredients associated with the region. Kick off with the sampler plate, showcasing a selection of house-made dips, such hummus, baba ganoush, tahini and more, all tempting the diner to scoop them up with soft, flaky pita bread. Follow this with a selection from the chargrill. Skewers of tender, well-seasoned chicken, beef or lamb are on offer, accompanied by salad and a choice of chips or baked rosemary potatoes.
