Chef Atsushi Saito developed his culinary skills in Japanese fine dining restaurants around Australia and at Nobu in the Bahamas. Primarily known for his sushi and sashimi, he extends his skills into interesting takes on Japanese classics.
The popular @ Restaurant is located on the Pacific Highway in Crows Nest. The street may be busy, but inside is pleasant and quiet, with a simple dining area and a sushi bar counter.
Tempura broccolini with seaweed and miso sauce is a beautiful combination of sweet, still-crisp broccolini coated in ever-so-light batter and served with a thick seaweed and miso sauce that adds punch to the dish. Wagyu steak and birds nest is a Japanese take on the French steak frites. Chef Saito’s clever interpretation sees seared bite-size pieces of wagyu served in a tasty savoury sauce, and then topped off with a huge nest of very thin, fried potato sticks – a more-ish dish!
