L'avis de Gault&Millau
Joint Head Chefs Adele Arkelle and Colin Pernice have brought vibrant Mexican fare south of the river. Using local produce and unique Latin American ingredients, Radio Mexico’s menu features traditional favourites given a modern upgrade. Perched on the beach end of Carlisle Street, Radio Mexico is a colourful restaurant with a contemporary Mexican feel and a buzzing atmosphere. Take a seat in the courtyard to enjoy the sunshine in summer or the open fire in winter.
Every dish offers a fiesta of flavour, with plenty of choices to spice up your meal. From the taco bar, pescado de la casa is generously filled with smoky grilled fish, creamy avocado salsa and tasty black bean and corn salsa. Enchiladas de res is a knockout main dish. Wrapped in crisp tortillas, the mezcal-marinated slow-cooked beef is meltingly tender, and it is richly spiced with a smokiness and a hint of chilli. Sour cream and a fresh herb salad provide a cooling contrast.
PSST! Stop by on a Monday night, and you can enjoy a great meal and a fantastic cocktail special – two for one classic margaritas!
