Ombra Salumi Bar maintains the high standards of the Grossi group, focusing on traditional Italian food, ranging from an extensive offering of local and imported cured meats, a tempting selection of chicchetti (small snacks), some pasta dishes and a great-looking pizza menu.
The narrow restaurant has some bar tables downstairs with a more traditional dining room upstairs. In the warmer seasons you may like to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Bourke Street and take a table outside. Wherever you are seated, the ambience is all Italy, and you will be looked after by knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed staff, well capable to guide you through the menu and the extensive wine list.
Choose from the main menu or a four-course sharing menu. The cicchetti include eggplant fritte, crispy fried, and perfectly matched with a smoked garlic dipping sauce. One of the great dishes on the menu, slow-cooked capretto is a great combination of the sweet tenderness of goat meat, accented with chestnut-flower honey – a surprising, flavoursome combination.
