L'avis de Gault&Millau
Co-owner and Executive Chef of MoVida Frank Camorra is no stranger to Spanish food. Having spent time working across kitchens in Spain, Chef Camorra returned to Melbourne and has since opened a number of Spanish restaurants under the MoVida brand.
Enter into the low-lit, welcoming, Spanish-style trattoria, where diners can take a bar stool at the solid oak bar or choose a more formal dining table. The use of decorative Spanish tiles and wood through the venue is warm and inviting.
Tapas are the order of the day, with an appealing array of small dishes to share on offer, followed by a selection of larger raciones. For something special, try the anguila, a meaty slice of smoked eel with a creamy celeriac remoulade and crunchy wagyu floss sprinkled on top. From the larger plates, try the cerdo: flattened charred pork neck served in a meaty broth of chickpeas, chorizo and cavolo nero and topped with a decadent green pesto puree.
PSST! Fancy a taste of Spain at home? Alimentaria is Frank Camorra’s online store that imports the Spanish produce used in the kitchens.
