CBD restaurant Massi showcases owner/Chef Joseph Vargetto’s vision of southern Italian cuisine with a seasonally evolving menu.
Light streams through the black-rimmed windows of this intimate Italian restaurant. Marble countertops and a modern gold honeycomb-style light fitting add a touch of luxury to this heritage building.
Glance across the marble bar and you’ll see a meal slicer with a selection of hanging salami. From the stuzzichini selections, try the calamari, lightly dusted and fried, the accompanying salad fresh and light, with burst of citrus supplied by fresh orange segments and rounded off with ribbons of vinaigrette-dressed fennel. Arancini flavours vary weekly and are served in a quirky china egg carton. The real star at Massi is the pasta: silky pasta, dressed and swirled with mouth-watering flavours. Go for the orecchiette; an addictive pasta dish featuring Italian sausage, broccoli, chilli and fennel, generously dressed with butter sauce. Or, try the popular squid ink spaghettini with crab and clams, brought together by a subtle seafood broth.
