Mamasita’s offerings are inspired by Mexican street food, where dishes are unpretentious and feature classic flavour combinations.
The large, warm timber bar, with a huge array of tequila bottles on display, dominates the softly lit space. Globe droplights give the venue an intimate glow, with options to sit at the front of the restaurant overlooking the Paris end of Collins Street.
The menu offers a superb variety of modern Mexican dishes ideal for sharing. Be sure to try the addictive charred corn dressed with shaved cheese and a luscious chipotle mayo. For something a bit different, try the ceviche with unique flavours of coconut milk and sweet cubed melon. Flavours are fresh and vibrant, with a range of taco options available. Try the pibil-style pork hock: tender, shredded pork is well paired with slivers of pink pickled onion and sweet slices of pineapple. For something more substantial, the quesadillas are generously portioned, the lamb birria option offering shredded lamb with melted cheese, served up in a charred toasted tortilla and dressed with a smooth crema.
