Renowned chef and TV personality Shane Delia has opened a sibling to his original CBD restaurant Maha. The newest addition to Windsor’s dining scene, Maha East, sees Head Chef Simon Lillico leading the kitchen team. Small and cosy, and a more casual venue than its sister, Maha East is located on the bustling end of Chapel Street, and appeals to a Gen-Y crowd (as well as Shane’s established white-collar followers). The interior is dark and moody, with a long bar leading down a corridor to the dimly lit dining space. Start with a plate of creamy hummus with Persian saffron and fluffy bread. Follow with chemen-cured kingfish, finely diced, with notes of pickled cucumber and unusual urfa biber. Resembling a cigar, the spiced lamb borek features thin, crisp pastry filled with minced lamb, redolent with fragrant spices and topped with a sweet raisin jam and olive. Rockling and pine mushrooms is a rich and robust dish, served with a rich jus of leeks and caramelised onion. PSST! Check out the great value soufra menus (all with optional matching wine packages).
