Lulu La Delizia
L'avis de Gault&Millau
After a four-year stint at Lalla Rookh in the CBD, Chef Joel Valvasori-Pereza is now the owner/Head Chef of Lulu La Delizia, named in honour of his grandmother.
Located on a pedestrian street, and with a lovely terrace that’s extremely popular in spring and summer, you’ll feel like you’re in Europe. An open kitchen, shelves stacked with imported Italian goodies, and a mix of high tables and regular tables with timber chairs all add to the atmosphere of a cafe in Italy.
Italy is definitely the theme – simple, generous and affordable cuisine. Nonna's meatballs, soft polenta and parmigiano is exactly what Lulu represents. For cheese lovers, stracciatella di burrata, pickled artichokes, peas and lemon zest is delightful. You might prefer the freshness of the saffron and gin-cured hiramasa kingfish with juniper-infused vinegar … mmm, delish! Now pasta, because let’s be honest, that’s why you will be back. It’s house-made, and every one is so appealing it will be hard to decide. The ricotta gnocchi, with blue swimmer crab, tomato, chilli and basil sugo, is a must.
PSST! Check out the chef’s menu – six share dishes for $69pp.
