L'avis de Gault&Millau
Born and trained in Mexico, Alejandro Huerta has been in Adelaide for 18 months. His menu at Lucky Lupitas offers an authentic Mexican experience with a twist. The restaurant has an industrial feel, with crates of drinks lining the front of the bar. Blue and white tiles are reminiscent of the Azulejos tiles of Portugal and Spain, while plants add some greenery.
The menu comprises a number of small plates covering all the Mexican favourites, such as tacos and burritos. Lucky’s elote is a great way to start – grilled corn is served on the cob with chipotle mayonesa, cheese and lime. Ask for the mild version if you’re not a fan of very spicy food. Crispy chicken fajitas are served with Lucky’s black beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, mixed capsicum, onion, bacon and cheese. You will not go hungry with this large serving!
PSST! Sangria is available by the glass or carafe, and perfectly complements the Latin flavours on the menu.
