Long Chim

L'avis de Gault&Millau

David Thompson has turned a love for Thai food into a global career. Long Chim is his gift to his home country of Australia, presenting authentic South-East Asian cuisine at an accessible price. Right on the edge of the Yarra River in the Crown Melbourne complex, Long Chim is fun, boisterous and bright, and great for a casual lunch or a catch-up with friends. The drinks list is a delight, with creative cocktails, an extensive wine selection, and a curated Asian beer offering. Long Chim strives to bring authenticity to its menu, with traditional approaches, hard-to-source ingredients and some choices that will appeal to those who have travelled to the region. Dried prawns with ginger and toasted coconut, wrapped in betel leaves, is a great place to start and is a complex entree with a well-balanced combination of sweet and sour. The popular red curry of roast duck has a curious spice and tartness to it, with pops of Thai vegetables offsetting the indulgent slices of duck. PSST! Long Chim offers affordable set menus for lunch and dinner. Reviewed for the 2019 Guide
