In a city that is limited in its offerings of truly authentic southern American cuisine, Le Bon Ton is a smoky, finger-licking standout. Alabama-born and Texas-raised brothers Jeremy and Christopher Sutphin lead the kitchen team. Le Bon Ton is a unique experience in Melbourne, transporting diners to a Louisiana-style barbecue, with deep wood panelling, vintage artwork and an indulgent display of candles. The atmosphere is loud and fun, helped on by the strong cocktails made up by the skilled bar team, or the rotating selection of boutique beers. The menu is a showcase of the American South with Texan-style brisket, Louisiana-style blackened fish and flavours from New Mexico to Alabama. The starters set the pace for the meal, with buttermilk-fried chicken and pit-smoked chicken wings popular favourites. The hero dishes are those from the in-house ironbark smoker. Beef brisket and short rib, pulled pork shoulder, lemon pepper chicken and lamb ribs are all excellent. PSST!
