Taking inspiration from seasonal produce, the team at Ladro produces flavoursome, casual Italian food and wood-fire pizzas.
Decorative droplights cast soft, warm shadows across the white brick walls and black ceiling, creating an inviting environment. Large windows span the front of the venue, allowing diners to people-watch and enjoy the views onto Gertrude Street.
Take a peek at the tiled wall for the selection of daily pizza and pasta specials. Dishes such as the calamari are regulars on the menu and for good reason: the lightly fried, tender calamari is deftly paired with a light lemon aioli and makes a perfect start to the meal. Roman-style pizza is cooked in the wood-fire oven, resulting in thin bases with deliciously crispy blistered spots on the crusts. Try the J-Lo pizza – creamy mozzarella with crunchy strips of speck – or take the heat up a notch with the spicy gamberi. The gnocchi is a popular main, served with a marjoram-infused pork ragu and topped with pecorino shavings.
