A Gault&Millau Australia TOP 100 restaurant Over the last two years, Italian-born Chef Matteo Zamboni (ex-Pilu and Ormeggio at The Spit) has established himself at Jonah’s and created his own style of food: a refined and often unique execution of classic dishes, all presented with picture-perfect plating. Jonah’s is a longstanding favourite to celebrate a special event or to impress visitors. The elegant restaurant with a professional service team has arguably the best view in town, overlooking Whale Beach and across the Tasman Sea. Tuna bresaola is served on a large wooden plate with crisp green apple, muntries and rocket pesto, with the air-dried fish packed in a paper sheet. The torello veal battuta, a veal tartare, is artwork on a plate. The professionally cut veal is served with black garlic, mushrooms and croutons, with acidity from lemon giving character and a lift. The perfectly cooked toothfish, with a crispy miso-glazed skin, is accompanied by cauliflower with a delicious caper foam – this dish alone is worth the trip to Whale Beach. PSST!
