L'avis de Gault&Millau

A Gault&Millau Australia TOP 100 restaurant Over the last two years, Italian-born Chef Matteo Zamboni (ex-Pilu and Ormeggio at The Spit) has established himself at Jonah’s and created his own style of food: a refined and often unique execution of classic dishes, all presented with picture-perfect plating. Jonah’s is a longstanding favourite to celebrate a special event or to impress visitors. The elegant restaurant with a professional service team has arguably the best view in town, overlooking Whale Beach and across the Tasman Sea. Tuna bresaola is served on a large wooden plate with crisp green apple, muntries and rocket pesto, with the air-dried fish packed in a paper sheet. The torello veal battuta, a veal tartare, is artwork on a plate. The professionally cut veal is served with black garlic, mushrooms and croutons, with acidity from lemon giving character and a lift. The perfectly cooked toothfish, with a crispy miso-glazed skin, is accompanied by cauliflower with a delicious caper foam – this dish alone is worth the trip to Whale Beach. PSST! Jonah’s has won many accolades for its extensive wine list, which includes many international wine regions and grapes. Reviewed for the 2019 Guide
