A Gault&Millau Australia TOP 100 restaurant
Head Chef Jin Choi (ex-The Bridge Room, Momofuku Seiōbo and Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant) has stamped his distinctive and sophisticated style on the menu at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, showcasing nuanced Asian-influenced flavours underpinned by a notable technique.
The majestic Mount Lofty House (c. 1852), originally a residence built for Arthur Hardy and only a short trip from Adelaide’s CBD, is the quintessential setting for a fine dining restaurant, with sweeping views of the Piccadilly Valley.
From the quartet of amuse-bouches, to the abalone in a sublime aromatic umami broth with plump mussel and garden turnip, it is evident that the skill set in the kitchen is of the highest level. Similarly, the perfectly executed pork belly, with succulent texture, and served with burnt apple and celeriac, hits the mark. The smoked duck breast with plum sauce, grapes and chestnut puree is an excellent combination that works an absolute treat alongside silky and well-seasoned potato puree with local extra virgin olive oil.
PSST! The grandeur of the overall experience is a compelling reason to book accommodation and make the visit that little bit more special.
