Fatto Bar & Cantina
L'avis de Gault&Millau
Headed up by Chef James Kummrow (ex-Royal Mail Hotel), Fatto Bar & Cantina boasts stunning views and gorgeous Italian food.
Located next door to the Arts Centre, it’s a favourite for a pre-theatre meal or an aperitif in the sunshine with views of the Yarra and bustling Southbank Boulevard below.
Sip on an Aperol spritz and munch on some salumi or a selection of cheese or a plate of fried calamari. A delight is an oozy chunk of Italian burrata with ‘low carb’ zucchini noodles and lemon oil. Hungry diners can enjoy a house-made pasta, such as crab spaghettini with hints of chilli for a subtle kick or a rich dish of gnocchi with braised rabbit and rocket pesto. Classic Italian risotto comes with pumpkin, mascarpone and creamy goat curd with a walnut crunch. Match this with a side of greens made exciting, such as broccoli with a pangrattato crumb, parmesan and lemon, or a rocket and blushing red ruby grapefruit.
PSST! For a quick bite before a performance, there’s a pre-theatre menu of two delicious courses for $45 … perfect!
