Chef Scott Pickett’s restaurants demonstrate the diversity of his cooking skills, from his new venture Matilda 159 Domain, where wood-fire cooking takes pride of place, to his informal bistro at Estelle. He has also branched out with Pickett’s Deli & Rotisserie, situated in the iconic Queen Victoria Market. At this popular luxe restaurant, choose from the earthy wood panelling and luxury fittings of the main dining room, or head out to the rear of the venue and take a seat in the lush green botanical indoor/outdoor dining space. Take a seat and enjoy the experience, for the service is top notch and the food is exemplary. Clair de Lune oysters are a good start before moving on to the sheer wagyu tartare, a jumble of colour dressed with alliums and capers. From the mains, try the Humpty Doo barramundi with crispy skin and firm white flesh, served with cucumber and crème fraîche. Sunday roast options will win hearts and satisfy stomachs – lamb is slow cooked and served with creamed leeks, crispy kale and charred butternut squash. PSST!
