Embers Mezze Bar
L'avis de Gault&Millau
Head Chef Lee Thor’s menu is inspired by traditional Lebanese dishes, infused with influences from across the Middle East, and then modernised for discerning diners.
The mood lighting sets the scene for any occasion with groups and couples pouring into the restaurant creating a festive roar that is heightened by the wooden floorboards.
The menu features some interesting Middle Eastern dishes, the range of dishes extending beyond the familiar to include some unusual offerings. To start, it is recommended to order the sambusek, which is filled with ricotta, spinach and pine nuts. To accompany the flaky pastries, red zhug and sliced cucumber happily share the plate. If you love the taste of lamb, the shish barak – lamb dumplings, warm yoghurt and beurre noisette may take your fancy. The five lamb-filled dumplings are boiled, then served with the velvety texture of beurre noisette, the sharpness of warm yoghurt and smoky aromas from the spices.
PSST! Arrive early and sit at the bar while you wait for your table. The staff are more than happy to create and serve your beverage of choice.
