Owner/Chef Emile Avramides, in conjunction with Head Chef Michael Tran, is pushing the culinary boundaries in this suburban bistro, displaying all the hallmarks of his culinary pedigree, which includes time spent at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurants in London and Melbourne.
This busy, joyous bistro has a lively, effervescent atmosphere while maintaining an elegant feel. With sheer, crisp white drapes screening the windows, dark wooden tones and a very open kitchen boasting a marble counter and highly polished copper heat lamps, the mood is set.
Seasonality drives the menu at Clove Lane. Perhaps start with the ultra-fresh raw kingfish, blood orange and fennel. This dish certainly livens up the tastebuds – the texture of the kingfish is sublime, adorned with glistening blood orange morsels, fennel fronds and tarragon. Follow with the juicy and unctuous ox cheek, sauced with a red wine and beef cheek reduction, and accompanied by roasted sweet potato, crumbed cauliflower florets and robustly flavoured mustard leaf.
