China Diner’s Executive Chef Jack James Steer has curated a light, healthy, Asian-inspired and share-style menu that incorporates traditional flavours and style.
China Diner offers an inviting courtyard that draws you into their happy hour while the sun sets on your day. Inside, you are met with a long cocktail bar with fixed bar stools, open tables, intimate booths and Warhol-inspired artwork, which creates a casual and fun dining scene. The staff are friendly and excited to share their favourite dishes with you.
A local favourite is the xiao long bao (hot soup and pork dumplings) and it’s highly recommended that you try the massaman wagyu beef shin curry, a real pleasure to the senses. There is also a focus on gluten-free options, which makes dining easier for coeliacs. The wine list is diverse and interesting, with alternative varietals from all over Australia and the cocktail list offers some favourites with an Asian twist.
PSST! China Diner is a real ‘locals’ place to gather. Share-plate dumplings, cocktails and sunsets on the pedestrian-only street are the perfect way to spend the early evening.
