Former bankers and best mates Will Stewart and Steve Flood helm this showpiece diner at the entrance to Forest Lodge’s Tramsheds development, realising their dream after winning top spot in the popular TV series MKR in 2015. The open space is dominated by a restored, classic-era Sydney tram, which can be hired for functions or savoured on date night. There’s a produce counter and bar area along with an outdoor terrace, providing plenty of spaces for couples and groups. With an emphasis on sharing, plates are priced by brackets, so mix and match according to your appetite. Starters might include crisp pea and parmesan croquettes, made in a creamy Spanish style on a smear of truffled aioli. The ‘farmer’ looms large in share plates of roasted pumpkin spiced up with a punchy ‘nduja dressing, pepitas and croutons, or grilled gem lettuce with black garlic and shaved parmesan. Larger plates include a 12-hour smoked beef brisket and traditional rolled porchetta, while the ‘butcher’ features with the selection of steaks, burgers and house-made pork bangers. PSST!
