Bodega

L'avis de Gault&Millau

Talented chefs Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz deliver an innovative tapas/sharing-plate menu that has Latin American roots and a hint of Middle Eastern and Asian flavours, textures and ingredients. Bodega is located in the bustling neighbourhood of Surry Hills and is an ideal venue for couples and groups to enjoy a casual dining experience with an exciting, tantalising and ever-changing menu. The food is prepared in the open kitchen, creating a great buzz and atmosphere. Start with Bodega’s signature fish fingers – this delicious shared plate comprises hiramasa, charred toast, cuttlefish and mojama. The ‘arepa’ grilled corn cake with cauliflower cheese is topped with maple syrup, fried egg and red chilli, and is yet another exquisite dish for sharing. For mains, the crispy sesame–garlic chicken with mole and grilled pineapple is a refreshing and filling dish. The barbecue beef short rib with tomatillo, pepita and coriander sauce, served with fried green tomatoes and rocket, is another full-flavoured dish. The wine list features some great drops to go with your chosen dishes. PSST! Finish your meal with another signature dish – ‘Banana Split’. Reviewed for the 2019 Guide
