Bistro Boulevard

L'avis de Gault&Millau

In 1973, Chef Alain Pointeaux and his wife Caroline opened Le Boulevard – now known as Bistro Boulevard – and it is not only one of a handful of restaurants in the area to survive almost 50 years but very few Sydney restaurants could lay claim to such longevity. Alain and Caroline’s daughter Nathalie and her French husband Patrice took over in 2012. They refurbished the restaurant, and it re-emerged as Bistro Boulevard, offering the same excellent service with traditional dishes but leaning towards a more casual bistro with a menu to match. All the classics are on offer at Bistro Boulevard, such as escargots served in their shell with garlic butter as well as a classic but beautifully cooked steak frites served with café de Paris butter and French fries. From Monday through Thursday, the dish of the day – boeuf bourguignon, sole meuniere, poulet chasseur and moules marinière et frites respectively – is a salute to some of France’s most famous dishes. PSST! The goat cheese soufflé is always popular and is one of the original recipes of Alain Pointeaux. Reviewed for the 2019 Guide
