Ash St. Cellar

L'avis de Gault&Millau

Ash St. Cellar has prospered since the inception of Merivale’s famous ivy project, with simple dishes created with lots of flavour and supported by great service. Head Chef Jake Ahrens creates exceptional tapas with strong European, predominantly Spanish, influences. Ash St. Cellar is perfect for a quick corporate bite or a long lunch. Having one of Australia’s finest and most acclaimed sommeliers creating the wine list, you can be assured they will walk you through the exceptional selection of outstanding wines. Start with the whipped salt cod with potato, crème fraîche, roe and flatbread. Crunchy on the outside, beautifully balanced and perfectly seasoned, the fluffy salt cod is served with a dash of crème fraîche and is ideal to enjoy with with a cold beer or a fresh, crisp glass of riesling. Many dishes are traditional and left to speak for themselves like the baked pork and veal meatballs with tomato sugo. This rich and beautifully textured dish is sure to impress even the fussiest Italian! PSST! Sydney’s little piece of Europe tucked away in the centre of the city! Reviewed for the 2019 Guide
