With years of experience working over a wood grill at Rockpool, Executive Chef Declan Carroll brings the right kind of pedigree to his Prahran steakhouse. The menu is deliberately unpretentious, with the focus firmly placed on quality produce.
At home in the almost century-old Prahran post office building, the space is gorgeous, with dark lighting, leather booths and a light jazz soundtrack. Smartly dressed bartenders tend the well-stocked bar, and the wine list is great fun, with some interesting discoveries from across the globe.
Angus & Bon is, at its heart, a steakhouse, with grass-fed and dry-aged rib eyes and scotch fillets served up with made-to-perfection sauces. Many of the dishes are cooked over the wooden grill. Pork rillettes are packed with flavour, and a great way to start, alongside the excellent bread and butter that arrives with confit lamb ribs and an offering of premium smallgoods. Fresh swordfish is wood grilled and served with crisp vegetables and a complex side sauce.
PSST! For something casual, pop in for their steak frites, which is served in the bar area.
