Having worked with some of the industry’s top names in some well-known establishments, both in Australia and overseas, Chef Damian Heads now runs Woodland Kitchen & Bar in Neutral Bay with his wife Jenni. The smart interior has warm wood tones and fittings, and a sophisticated vibe, making it an ideal venue for couples and families alike.
The wood-fire grill is the signature to many of the dishes on the menu, giving the meals a smoky flavour and allowing the produce to shine. There’s a carefully considered list of starters and mains, as well as a nice selection of share places, great for groups. The crispy confit duck is tender and juicy and delivers in the crispy skin stakes. Cooked on the signature wood-fire grill, the perfectly cooked Tasmanian salmon has a great earthy, smoky flavour, with the superb quality of the fish shining through.
PSST! The kids’ meals come with an activity bag to keep younger diners amused.
