Travelling from Italy to Sydney, Luigi Esposito realised his dream in 2011 when he opened Via Napoli Pizzeria in Lane Cove. His passion for authenticity has since led him to open two other successful venues. With boisterous families and friends dining al fresco, you can’t miss this restaurant. The atmosphere is casual and the wait staff’s smiles are contagious. Inside is packed with tables, where diners can watch the action around the wood-fire oven.
Boards of charcuterie topped with big, round globes of buffalo mozzarella are crowd-pleasers, while the luscious pappardelle alla Calabrese, with its tomato sauce packed with Italian countryside flavours and melt-in-the-mouth pork morsels, will leave you asking for seconds. Now also available in two-metre length, the pizzas – prepared using traditional techniques – are the stars of the show. Try the simple margherita or the more elaborate Vesuvio, with its creamy ricotta balancing the smoked ham and salami atop a soft and bubbly crust.
PSST! Via Napoli’s colour-in kid’s menu will keep the little ones occupied while you dine.
