Co-owners Ramzey Choker and Jack Hanna built a garden on a former industrial site in Alexandria. The garden now contains a restaurant, a café, a bakery, a coffee roaster, a florist, events spaces, a weekend market, a petting zoo and outdoor seating. Executive Chef Paul McGrath oversees all the food outlets. In a nod to its industrial origins, the café has exposed brick walls and beams. An eclectic mix of tableware, variously sized tables, wooden chairs and banquettes adds to the rustic, casual and always buzzing atmosphere.
Maintaining the garden theme, the constantly changing menu concentrates on fresh produce. The king crab omelette features a creamy egg envelope, filled with a generous portion of crabmeat, on a salad of sliced golden zucchini. And, of course, the selection of fresh salads offers a dazzling range of crunchy ingredients.
PSST! If the on-site parking is full, there are two industrial sites just down Bourke Road that offer free parking to Grounds’ customers.
