Owner/Chef Matt Barnett – of Bronte Road Bistro – has curated a menu that embraces Gallic favourites.
Reopened under the new moniker of St Claude’s, the restaurant retains its cosy and comfortable Oxford Street charm. A chic modern decor with subdued tones and elegant linen-covered tables are the backdrop for a luxe level of dining underpinned by excellent service.
The menu is classic French bistro, with a range of expected staples balanced with a nice array of contemporary touches and vegetarian options. The signature oven-fresh twice-baked cheese soufflé, with rich flavours of gruyère, is a delightfully light entree. A textbook, luscious and satisfying chicken liver parfait is served with lightly toasted sourdough and a sharp bite of cornichons. For mains, along with a well-considered range of steak options there’s an updated twist on duck à l’orange – melt-in-the-mouth duck leg confit atop a rich carrot puree balanced with the sharpness of orange. To finish the meal, choose from a selection of cheeses or one of the enticing desserts.
PSST! A three-course prix fixe menu is available every night.
