Chef James Metcalfe has worked at award-winning restaurants, both internationally and locally. In London, it was Mayfair restaurants The Square and Marco Pierre White’s Mirabelle; in Sydney: Becasse, Etch and The Bellevue. And now, as the Managing Director of JRM Hospitality, James has channelled all this experience into a seven-day, all-day establishment that manages the impressive feat of doing all meals well.
This minimal, industrial, chic bistro-style restaurant is a welcoming space with a friendly and attentive staff.
For breakfast, aside from having one of the best menus in Sydney, the Omelette Arnold Bennett – soft eggs, smoked haddock and a cheesy mornay sauce – has no peer. For lunch, the muffuletta with Swiss cheese, smoked ham, salami, roasted peppers and olive mayonnaise is satisfying and complex. For dinner, the focus becomes more refined, and the Koji-cured O’Connor beef flank, with miso emulsion and broccoli stem, is an impressive dish, demonstrating the skill and innovation in the kitchen, allowing the quality of the food to shine.
PSST! They do a prix fixe lunch, a daytime coffee happy hour and an evening drinks happy hour.
