Rickys River Bar & Restaurant is the quintessential smart–casual Queensland dining experience. Chef Josh Smallwood and his team serve up well crafted, nicely presented dishes from fresh produce, much of it sourced from their own farm.
Open and airy, with superb water views, Rickys is a stylish, relaxed space with white tablecloths, timber floors, whitewashed timber, and glass louvre windows. The service is excellent: attentive, informal and professional.
The menu exemplifies the best of Queensland produce. A pea and parmesan croquette is simple but delicious – crisp on the outside, soft and flavoursome on the inside, and served with a smoked aioli. Grilled sheep milk haloumi is served in a basil–olive oil with pickled zucchini. A seafood bisque with Moreton Bay bug, octopus, scallops, mussels, pipis and local fish has a subtle saffron flavour with sumptuous fish flavours, while a barbecue quail with artichoke puree, roasted nectarines, endive and puffed barley is a well-balanced melange of textures and flavours.
