Owner/Chef Rachael Ciesiolka was dubbed ‘Queen of Seafood’ when she competed in Australia’s MasterChef competition in 2014. At her eponymous seafood restaurant, she lives by her founding principles of spanking fresh Australian seafood, cooked simply.
A little strip of tables outside the Darwin Fish Market at Fisherman’s Wharf provides an open-air, covered space to sample some of the freshest seafood you’ll find. It’s a simple wooden bench setting, to enjoy the harbour air and the friendly service.
The menu is all seafood. Start with the house-made chowder served in a bread roll, or the spicy fish taco with house-made seafood sauce. Top End-caught banana prawns come sizzling on cast-iron plates redolent with garlic butter. The muscular flesh of fillets of wild-caught Northern Territory barramundi comes either classically battered or pan-fried with lemon, butter and pepper. Or, check the selection of whole fish that has come off the boats hours before, prepared with the house signature sauce or garlic butter.
PSST! Mud crabs, when in season (May to August), feature on the menu, served with Rachael’s special Singapore chilli sauce.
