Owners Ji and Alana Matthews now have a few dining establishments in Darwin, but PM Eat & Drink is the one that encapsulates their approach to quality ingredients, cooked simply and well, with a focus on locally caught seafood.
The dining space has a chic industrial feel with soft lighting, greenery and a friendly atmosphere. The simple fit-out features lots of blacks, exposed bricks and light-coloured wood.
The menu is culturally diverse, offering a mix of classics and regional favourites. The steak tartare with chilli oil, crème fraîche, bonito and prawn crackers is done extremely well, skilfully prepared in terms of the knife work and the size of dice, but also well seasoned and texturally balanced. The roast pork belly with braised leeks and pickled fennel is tender, rich, satisfying and packed with umami. The calamari with pico de gallo, chilli oil and beurre noisette is their signature dish and with good reason. Perfectly cooked calamari with a tightly seasoned sauce, in a classic beurre noisette, and balanced with pico de gallo, is a simple dish, but vibrant and interesting.
PSST! Can’t decide? There is a choice of three well-priced banquet menus.
