Acclaimed chef/restaurateur Scott Pickett (Estelle, Matilda, Lupo), who has wowed Melburnians for years with his outstanding food, has recently opened his latest venture, Pastore.
Helmed by Head Chef Mirco Speri, this upmarket eatery with brass panels and stone tables will delight those who want to shop till they drop and have something exquisite to eat without having to leave the vicinity. This high-end restaurant adjoins Hotel Chadstone to capture a wide audience, both local and international.
Australian ingredients are to the fore on the menu, cleverly crafted with Italian influences, and coupled with wood-fire fuelled cooking. Start with a snack of duck prosciutto – rolled duck with a dollop of sweet plum gel. Then try the perfectly charred skewers of Spencer Gulf king prawns with ‘nduja and fermented tomato. For secondi, the fish of the day is charred on the wood-fire grill, and served with Pastore peperonata, while direct from the grill is a 250g Otway Ranges grass-fed eye fillet – a divine piece of meat, cooked to perfection, and served atop wilted spinach.
PSST! Check out the weekday lunch special – main course and glass of wine for $35.
