From the same family as Tipo 00, and located right next door, Osteria Ilaria’s kitchen is headed up by Andreas Papadakis (ex-Vue de monde). His menu of creative yet casual Italian dishes teams well with the plethora of wines held by the well-stocked bar. The interior is an intriguing blend of rustic and modern elements, and there is an open kitchen.
With a range of dishes that you might expect to see at an Italian wine bar, the menu is well thought out. Hiramasa kingfish with smoked eel and watercress is fantastically smoky. Sitting on a bed of watercress puree, the perfectly cooked fish has a deliciously powerful flavour that is well matched by the smoked eel. Grilled baby calamari is a spectacular-looking dish. The delicate calamari is placed atop salted cod and surrounded by orange saffron puree and black squid ink.
PSST! As this gorgeous restaurant takes bookings, it’s the perfect venue for an in and out corporate lunch.
