Chef and restaurateur Andrew McConnell has created an effortlessly styled wine bar to complement his adjoining venue, Cutler & Co., and the kitchen is run by Head Chef Joshua Fry. Marion is a wine lover’s paradise featuring floor-to-ceiling racks stacked with a comprehensive selection of tipples. The decor is industrial-chic, with a colour palette of black, dark grey and white softened by the low-level lighting throughout the restaurant. It’s a great place for an after-work catch-up with friends.
The seasonal menu changes regularly and is described on the wall using letter tiles. Crudo, persimmon dressing and fennel is a lovely and light way to start your meal. The thinly sliced kingfish has a great texture and is not overwhelmed by complicated flavours. A simple but beautiful dish, whole roasted flounder swims in an addictive burnt butter and caper sauce with lemon flashes throughout. The flesh of the fish is deliciously soft.
