After more than a decade in the city, Longrain Melbourne continues to deliver reinvigorated Thai dishes. Aiven Lee brings a range of South-East Asian influences to bear on a concise but rich menu. Longrain Melbourne is an eclectic space where exposed brick contrasts with mermaid-inspired tiles and a wall-size tiger mural. The cosy venue has long communal benches and banquet-style round tables.
The fresh and spicy dishes represent a contemporary twist to Thai fare. Filled eggnet is brimming with succulent prawns and pork as well as a mix of sprouts and peanuts. Caramelised coconut pieces add sweetness to this beautifully textured and tasty dish. Southern red curry of pork belly, Thai eggplant and holy basil packs a spice punch. The pork pieces soak up the gorgeous curry sauce and are so tender that they fall apart at the touch.
PSST! If the food is too spicy for you, ask for a complimentary plate of cooling cucumber to refresh your palate.
