A Reymond family establishment, L’Hôtel Gitan is a French-inspired gastro-pub located in Prahran. Israeli Head Chef Rotem Papo’s menu focuses on sophisticated food and excellent produce. Unlike the fine dining restaurants owned by the Reymond family, this venture is a lot more casual. Designed by award-winning firm SJB, the interior is modern and inviting. Art Deco touches reflect the history of the building in which the restaurant resides.
Who needs to go to France when you can sample the best of French cuisine right here in Prahran? Petit calamar a la plancha is a chargrilled calamari hood that is beautifully tender. It is topped with oozy cheese, crunchy croutons and a delightfully herby dressing. Gitan steak tartare presents chunks of quality raw beef in lettuce cups along with a delectable mix of capers, cornichons, onion slices and egg. You won’t want to share these tasty bites!
PSST! L’Hôtel Gitan has a superb wine list, with quality selections from Australia and all over Europe.
