Owner/chef Guy Grossi has established a series of fine dining and casual restaurants. Keeping an overview is Executive Chef Mario Di Natale, who is now based in Perth, while Head Chef Joel Baylon leads the team at Grossi Florentino Grill.
The restaurant provides a pleasant buzz, with views onto Melbourne's busy Bourke Street. The interior is refined casual with dark-wood panelling and an impressive Tuscan grill as the centrepiece.
You can rest assured you are in good hands and can expect sophisticated versions of Tuscan classics, many of which are deliciously flavoured by cooking on the wood-fire grill. The ‘palle de nonno’ are a delightful example! These small, succulent sausages are served with fresh fennel to offset their richness. The seasonal zucchini flowers, stuffed with ricotta and served with eggplant caponata, showcase top-quality ingredients handled with deftness. There are plenty of satisfying grilled fish and meat dishes to try, and the house-made pasta – such as delicious, fresh taglierini with zucchini and prawns – is superb.
PSST! Save room for the tiramisu – it may well be the best you’ll ever try!
