French-born owner/chef Manu Fillaudeau’s restaurant is a hidden gem on the edge of the Swan Valley. It offers superb French provincial foods, French-speaking waiters, a great bar, al fresco seating and a formal dining area. The restaurant has views of both the tasting room and vineyards of Pinelli Estate, so it is the perfect place for wine lovers to enjoy a meal.
Chef Fillaudeau focuses on honest French cooking and well-balanced flavours. Le tartare is traditional and more-ish. A generous portion of local beef eye fillet is diced to order and served with lemon juice, shallots, gherkins, capers, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, egg yolk, Tabasco® and mustard. Le confit de canard is complemented by to-die-for smoked corn puree and a thyme and mushroom duxelle. The earthiness of the mushrooms and the creaminess of the puree harmonise beautifully with the duck.
