Owner/Executive Chef Mike Patrick has over 20 years of commercial cooking experience. Following his time at Argentinian restaurant San Telmo, he followed his passion for barbecue, which led to the opening of Fancy Hank’s.
Situated in a beautiful Art Deco building, Fancy Hank’s offers a relaxed environment to enjoy American-style smoked meats. Black banquettes and wooden panelling are used throughout the venue with Art Deco drop globes casting a warm glow.
Barbecued meats are the headliners here, with a solid supporting cast of smaller plates. Start with the mac and cheese, oozing with creamy sauce and cheese. All meats are cooked in a large smoker nicknamed ‘Puffing Billie’, and are served with pickled vegetables. The beef brisket is everything you would hope to find in an American barbecue joint; marinated to give a smoky flavour, the meat is tender and soft with charred edges. The pulled pork shoulder is equally satisfying: marinated in brown sugar and chipotle vinegar, the flavours balanced between sweet and sharp.
