Executive Chef Ryan Squires has created a casual à la carte menu at esq. that showcases fresh local produce. The decor has a stylish Scandinavian feel, with light-coloured wooden furniture contrasting with dark, polished, concrete floors. Huge windows bring the outside in, and allow diners to enjoy the exceptional view of the Story Bridge and the Brisbane River.
Delicious barbecue aromas from the charcoal grill fill the restaurant, but there are plenty of tantalising non-meat options on the menu as well. Moreton Bay calamari brushed with parsley and garlic certainly looks simple on the plate, but it is packed with flavour. The calamari is tender and succulent, with an amazing smokiness. Potato gnocchi with minced bay shrimp and basil is definitely a winner. The gnocchi is so light that it melts in your mouth, and the delectable sauce ties the whole dish together.
